GEDDES -- The New York State Fair has finalized its lineup of free acts at Chevy Court by announcing that Gym Class Heroes, David Nail, and Starship featuring Mickey Thomas have been added to the schedule.
All acts at Chevy Court are free with your fair admission ticket. Here are the details of the new acts and a complete lineup from the New York State Fair:
The New York State Fair announced the final three acts of the Chevy Court concert series rounding out a line up that includes pop, rock and country as well as cooking lessons from celebrity chefs. Two different acts will perform each day at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. All shows at Chevy Court are free with Fair admission.
"We are really trying to give people a great experience that doesn't cost a lot of money - for the price of admission a family can come to the Fair and see a variety of competitions, a world class circus, great entertainment and two national acts a day on Chevy Court," said Dan O'Hara, New York State Fair director.
Gym Class Heroes, an American alternative hip hop band, will perform at 2 p.m. on Aug. 26. This band, originally from Geneva, NY, is known for combining hip hop, rock, R&B and metal into its music. Among their many hits are "Cupid's Chokehold", "Clothes Off", "Cookie Jar" and "Stereo Hearts".
David Nail, an American country music artist, will perform at 2 p.m. on Sept. 2. His debut album I'm About to Come Alive peaked in the top twenty on the US Country Charts and spawned a number of chart topping singles including "Red Light" and "Turning Home". His most recent single "Let it Rain" is also climbing the music charts.
Starship featuring Mickey Thomas will perform at 2 p.m. on Sept. 5. This concert includes the multiplatinum hits from Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship and Starship including "We Built This City", "Sara" and "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now".
The announced performers are part of a revamped Chevy Court format introduced in 2009 that will bring 24 national acts to the Chevy Court stage instead of the traditional 12. These changes have set records for attendance at Chevy Court concerts and enhanced the overall entertainment options for Fairgoers. Last year's Chevy Court performance by Lady Antebellum was attended by an estimated 30,000 people.
