Christian Patterson accused of shooting, killing Deputy Kurt Wyman
ONEIDA COUNTY -- The man accused of shooting and killing an Oneida County Sheriff's Deputy has been indicted by an Oneida County Grand Jury on several charges.
Christian Patterson, 41, was indicted on aggravated murder for the death of Deputy Kurt Wyman, according to Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara.
Patterson was also indicted on two charges of attempted aggravated murder when he reportedly shot at David Nowakowski, an Oneida County investigator, and Deputy Thomas Larkin. The Grand Jury also indicted Patterson on charges of criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree, and harrassment in the 2nd degree.
Patterson will be arraigned Friday morning at 9:30. If convicted, he faces life in prison without parole.
Deputy Wyman was shot during an overnight standoff in June in the hamlet of Knoxboro. He was rushed to Utica hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Wyman's wife went into labor after hearing the enws of her husband's death and delivered a baby girl.
Days later, hundreds of law enforcement, along with Wyman's family and friends, paid tribute to his dedication to the community.
