Missing elderly shopper found safe in Syracuse

SYRACUSE -- 4:10 p.m UPDATE: The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office reports that Louis Denitto has been located. Deputies say he was found in Downtown Syracuse just before 4:00 p.m.

Police in Onondaga County are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing elderly man who wandered away from his family during a shopping trip.

Sheriff’s Deputies put out a report Friday afternoon detailing the case of 79-year-old Louis Denitto, who police say has been missing since just before noon Friday. Denitto, who police say has a medical condition, was reportedly with a family member at the Shop City plaza on Teall Avenue when he wandered off on his own.

Denitto is described as standing between 5’4” and 5’6” tall, weighing 150 pounds, with gray hair. He was wearing thick glasses, blue pants, a blue jacket, a tan baseball hat, and white sneakers.

Police say Denitto may be attempting to make his way to the 400 block of Elm Street in Syracuse, where he lives.
