13 year old won in Akron, plans to compete again
A championship ring, a several-foot high trophy, commemorative jacket, and more, among the prizes for 13 year old Daniel Raulli, the Soap Box Derby champion from East Syracuse.
He joined us to show off his car, and more, this morning on Weekend Today in Central New York. Raulli says it took a couple months to build the Super Stock Rally division winner. and after practicing with the Syracuse group near Alliance Bank Stadium, he qualified for the nationals in Akron, Ohio and four runs there, last weekend.
Raulli has been involved with building and racing for the past four years, and says Super Stock cars are a bit bigger, for larger drivers. He is still eligible for four more years, and plans to compete again.
The next Syracuse qualifiers are June 9th, 2012, but the Syracuse organizers get going before that, and welcome more participants.
