Former SU kicker Rob Long was heading to Cleveland on Tuesday afternoon, getting ready for a sudden tryout with the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland's punter Reggie Hodges blew out his left Achilles during a punting exercise on Tuesday, prompting the Browns to give Long the call for a tryout.
Long wrote on Facebook "Got a call, on my way to Cleveland, Ohio for a workout with the Browns! So thankful for this opportunity!"
Long, of course, battled with brain cancer late last year and early this year, but made it his mission to get back on the field in time to make an NFL team. He might just have that opportunity now in Cleveland.
