LIVERPOOL -- Thousands of people and many furry friends attended the 2nd annual Canine Carnival on Saturday at the Wegmans Good Dog Park in Liverpool.
The event raised money for local animal organizations and featured some pets looking for a good home. It was put on by the Priscilla Mahar Animal Welfare Foundation which was established by CNYcentral Chief Meteorologist Wayne Mahar in memory of his late mother who loved animals.
Carol Eggert, of Lakeland, attended the event for the second year in a row with her dog.
"Well I'm an animal lover and I really think what they are doing is for a good cause," Eggert said. "If I could afford it, I'd have a ton of animals because I think animals are wonderful creatures and they bring a lot of comfort and company."
Luis Columna, of Syracuse, also came with his dog.
"It is very well organized, it's a great opportunity for dogs to socialize with other dogs, an opportunity for other dogs to get adopted," Columna said. "I think that is fantastic."
There were celebrity dog walkers including Laura Hand, John Evenson, Meteorologist Matt Stevens and Jessica Cain.
