Teenager stabbed, 2 men shot in Syracuse

SYRACUSE -- Syracuse police are investigating a late night stabbing. 17-year-old Niaya Winsted walked into Upstate University Hospital around 11:55 p.m. Sunday with stab wounds to the chest.

Winsted told police she was in the area of Midland Avenue near Forest Avenue when she was attacked by two other woman.

Her injuries are described as non-life threatening.

Police are also investigating an overnight shooting that left two people hurt. It happened around 3:55 a.m. At 247 Empire Avenue. Police arrived on the scene and found two men with gunshot wounds.

A 27-year-old man was shot in the hand, and a 31-year-old man was shot in the torso. Both victims were taken to Upstate University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
