SYRACUSE -- An East Syracuse woman was sentenced Tuesday after admitting she stole thousands of dollars from her former employer.
In March of 2010, 54-year-old Denise Greene of Hartwell Avenue was charged with one count each of second degree grand larceny, second degree forgery, and first degree falsifying business records – all felonies – after police say she stole a total of approximately $210,000 from Examgen, Inc. from December 21, 2007 to December 4, 2009. Police say that while Greene worked as an office manager and bookkeeper for Examgen she made multiple unauthorized charges to a corporate credit card account that she had opened, and then paid down the credit balance using funds from Examgen’s checking, line of credit, and money market accounts.
On Tuesday morning in Onondaga County Court, Greene was sentenced to two and a third to seven years in prison for admitting the thefts. She was also ordered to pay a revised amount of $117,000 in restitution as part of her plea agreement.
