OWEGO, N.Y. (AP) -- Both of New York's U.S. senators are touring upstate to address the issue of the region's long-struggling economy.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand continues to push for programs intended to increase high-tech manufacturing in the state. She'll be in Owego in Tioga County Thursday morning to visit an electronics plant owned by a California-based company.

Gillibrand also has business and technology-related events scheduled for Ithaca, Walton and Oneonta.

Meanwhile, fellow Democrat Charles Schumer will be in western and northern New York.

Schumer starts the morning in Canandaigua, where he'll attend the groundbreaking for a high-tech lighting plant. He's also planning to stop in North Tonawanda, near Buffalo, and Croghan in Lewis County, where he'll asking state environmental conservation officials to work with local leaders to develop a plan to save the Croghan Dam.
