SYRACUSE -- A former Connecticut student-teacher was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison Thursday.
31-year-old Micah Brown pleaded guilty to the crime of using a facility of interstate commerce to persuade, induce, entice, and coerce and attempt to persuade, induce, entice and coerce minors to engage in unlawful sexual activity.
Brown admitted that he met a Marcellus teenager on the internet when she was 15 years old. In December of 2009 he traveled to Marcellus where he engaged in unlawful sexual activity with the child. He continued the relationship online and made arrangements to meet up with her in April of 2010 in the town of DeWitt for a sexual encounter.
As part of the plea deal Brown also admitted that he possessed child pornography on his laptop depicting a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl he had a relationship with online.
Brown also agreed to a lifetime of supervision after he is released. He must also register as a sex offender.
Brown's arrest was a combined effort of New York State Troopers, Connecticut State Police, Virginia Beach Police, U.S. Secret Service and the Wallie Howard Jr. Center for Forensic Sciences.
