Showcase for locally developed recipes & products
GEDDES -- There are 'big' food producers here in New York, like Lay's Potato Chips, and they show off and offer free samples in the State Fair Horticulture Building--Canale's, from Oswego, was showcasing its red and dipping sauces on Wednesday afternoon.
And as you come in the Fair main gate, the New York MarketPlace complex has a store that also sells locally developed and produced foods---from marinades and sauces to cheeses, even ice cream (to eat on the grounds, not to take home!)
Cindy Sanders, one of the managers, says there are products from four regions in NY. Many are packaged, labeled and 'mass produced' by the SUNY Morrisville-run store in Nelson, a year-round operation. At the Fair, business is brisk, with lots of people coming in and amazed that there's such diversity.
