ALBANY (AP) -- New York has made some changes in the big game hunting laws for this fall, but the bills were signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo too late to be included in hunting manuals usually provided when licenses are purchased.

The changes include allowing rifles to be used for big game in Cortland County. Crossbows may be used only during the muzzle-loading gun season, a slice of the fall hunting season.

In Delaware, Sullivan and Ulster counties, hunters are now prohibited from killing spikehorn deer; they must have at least one antler with three points.

More information is available online through the state Department of Environmental Conservation.

The bills approved by the Legislature were signed in mid-August, too late for printing.
