LIVERPOOL -- A Liverpool High School student is in trouble with school officials following a threat posted on Facebook.

The message was reported to school officials Thursday morning, and they immediately called the student into the security office.

Superintendent Richard Johns says the threat mentioned a gun. School leaders say there is no evidence of any weapons at the school.

"When they make those kind of statements, either to a friend or in this case on Facebook, you have to take it seriously until you know that it isn't. Like I say, we're going to have to spend some time trying to figure out 'why did you say this'?" said Johns Thursday afternoon.

The 15-year-old student was removed from the high school.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Department is investigating the case. The Sheriff's Department says the student involved is emotionally disturbed. No charges have been filed.
