Hunger Action Month spotlights year-long issue
The National Grid landmark building in downtown Syracuse is lit up in orange through the end of the month.
September is hunger action month, and a couple Syracuse landmarks--the National Grid headquarters, and Crouse Hospital, are lit up in orange, which has been designated the color of hunger.
Ania Stilwell, with the Food Bank of Central New York, says that while hunger is a year-round issue, this is the month that her organization asks people to do something to help make a dent in the problem.

supplies food providers, mostly pantries, shelters and feeding programs, in eleven Central New York Counties by providing the equivalent of 24,000 meals daily. Stilwell says suggested volunteer efforts include brown bagging a lunch and donating the cost difference, volunteering in the Food Bank or in a feeding program, or donate, either food or money which can help the food bank buy more, in bulk.
