Some 200 postal workers, representing 4 different unions, rallied outside the Syracuse Federal Building Tuesday afternoon, part of a nationwide effort to get Congress to change postal funding.
SYRACUSE --
Mike Landry, head of the Central New York Associated Postal Workers Union local says, "The Postal Service is not going broke!"

The issue is that Congress has ordered the Postal Service to pay in over $5 billion per year to a retirement fund.  The union members says the fund is 'over-funded' and the money should go for operating costs instead.

The postal workers want Congresswoman, Ann Marie Buerkle, to co-sponsor a bill changing the funding requirement.

Congresswoman Buerkle was not at the Federal Building today.  Union workers say they will come back tomorrow and present her with petitions making the same request.
