CLAY, ONONDAGA COUNTY -- A funeral for a Clay teen killed in a hit and run last week is scheduled for this morning.

Calling hours were held Sunday for Joseph Ozimek III, a Liverpool High School senior who was killed in a hit and run accident last Wednesday morning.

Ozimek was walking along Route 57 in Clay, to his home on Brompton Lane, from his job at McDonalds, when he was struck and killed.

Ozimek's brother-in-law Jacob Vieira described Ozimek as hard-working and very friendly and said the circumstances around his death have hurt the family.

CNY Central's Jim Kenyon spoke with Ozimek's father, Joe Ozimek, who said, "Whoever hit him, I don't care if he was drunk, speeding, or whatever, he should have called 911. My son didn't get a chance, and that's what hurts."

Liverpool officials they have assigned extra councilors to the high school.

19-year-old Aaron Sakran is charged with criminally negligent homicide, leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, and driving on shoulder of the roadway.
