A Fulton man is facing much more than animal cruelty charges, after an Friday night incident with troopers...and he has called CNY Central to dispute their side of the story.
State Police had gone to Steven Burdick's home at 4102 Route 3 in Fulton, on complaints that his German Shepherd, hit by a car, had been left in his yard, untreated for over 22 hours.  Troopers told Burdick he was under arrest for animal cruelty when he reportedly picked up his 3 year old son, and ran away, and now Burdick also faces child endangerment and resisting arrest charges.
Burdick tells us the dog --a two and a half year old female named Strike--was moved to an enclosed porch, but then got out.
He says he'd gone to get medication, but was turned down by a vet practice in Cicero, and was trying to make other arrangements when the troopers arrived.  Burdick also says he was walking toward his porch, not 'running away' with his son when the additional charges were placed.

The dog was taken to Fruit Valley Animal Clinic by Volney Animal Control, and has a fractured pelvis, but is expected to survive.  She has been returned to the family, according to Burdick, and is 'doing great'.
