Brig. Gen. Bannister bids farewell to Fort Drum

FORT DRUM (AP) -- Fort Drum is saying farewell to one of its top commanders.
The Army post in northern New York, home to the 10th Mountain Division, is holding a ceremony Tuesday afternoon to bid farewell to Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Bannister, the unit's deputy commanding general for operations.
Bannister is leaving Fort Drum for a new assignment with the U.S. Army's Central Command.
He has served as deputy commander of the 75th Ranger Regiment during tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as commanding a brigade in an infantry division during a tour in Iraq.
