The mother of a Syracuse University student killed aboard Pan Am flight 103 in 1988, tells CNY Central she will be celebrating the death of Moammar Gadhafi with champagne.
Susan Cohen's daughter, Theodora, was among the 35 S-U students killed when a terrorist bomb blew up the flight over Lockerbie, Scotland. Libya acknowledged responsibility for the attack which killed 270 people.
Reached by phone at her home in Cape May Courthouse, New Jersey, Cohen said, "I'm delighted, it's the best news I've had since December 20, 1988, the last happy day of my life, the day before Lockerbie. It's wonderful news, a long time coming and the only justice we've had."
Cohen praised the Libyan uprising which led to Gadhafi's ouster and killing. "I will never have closure but at least I will have from this a sense of justice...a sense of knowing he's dead. He died an awful death. If you want to call it vengeance...I don't care."
