Four CNY schools ranked in top 10 statewide

BUFFALO -- Business First, a Buffalo-based business publication released the academic rankings of upstate New York schools Thursday morning.
According to this year’s rankings, Central New York’s Fayetteville-Manlius School District is second ranked in the region following Pittsford Central School District outside of Rochester.
Skaneateles School District, another Central New York school district, is ranked fifth.
Business First has issued annual performance ratings for Western New York schools since 1992. Ratings use raw data from the New York State Education Department. Business First’s new ratings cover a broader territory including 431 Upstate school systems.
Rankings are based on student performance on 21 Regents exams and statewide tests during the period of 2007-2010 with final scores based on 172 statistical indicators.
Pittsford is top on the list for a high percentage of students achieving superior scores on the 2010 chemistry, English and global history Regents exams.
Fayetteville-Manlius is ranked top in mathematics on the Regents exams.
The twenty-five ranked districts are:

7. New Hartford (Oneida County, Utica-Rome Area)
8. Niskayuna (Schenectady County, Albany Area)
9. Cazenovia (Madison County, Syracuse Area)
10. Clarence (Erie County, Western New York)
11. Voorheesville (Albany County, Albany Area)
12. Bethlehem (Albany County, Albany Area)
13. East Aurora (Erie County, Western New York)
14. North Colonie (Albany County, Albany Area)
15. Guilderland (Albany County, Albany Area)
16. West Irondequoit (Monroe County, Rochester Area)
17. Jamesville-Dewitt (Onondaga County, Syracuse Area)
18. Westhill (Onondaga County, Syracuse Area)
19. Victor (Ontario County, Rochester Area)
20. Orchard Park (Erie County, Western New York)
21. Penfield (Monroe County, Rochester Area)
22. Alfred-Almond (Allegany County, Western New York)
