COLUMBUS, CHENANGO CO. -- A Otsego County man is facing additional charges after a fatal hit and run accusation.

Deputies say Daniel Preston, 27, was arrested for criminal possession of marijuana following an investigation into a fatal hit and run days before.

Deputies say Preston allegedly hit and killed 50-year-old Linda J. Jakubowski-Decker of West Winfield on County Route 25 in the Town of Columbus on October 27 before fleeing the scene. Preston was later located at his residence in Plainfield, Otsego County.

Preston’s vehicle was impounded for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. Deputies say his vehicle was processed for the hit and run and for more than 25 grams of marijuana found in the vehicle.

Preston is being held in the Chenango County Correctional Facility on charges from the accident, and was processed to reappear at a later date.
