Man placed on hold by Immigration after allegedly attacking girlfriend

UTICA -- A Utica man was arrested for assault, and placed on hold by Immigration, after allegedly attacking his girlfriend.

Utica Police say they responded to a home on Wall Street for an assault.

Police say that according to the victim, 43-year-old Manual Carrasco allegedly pinned down his girlfriend, the mother of his child, in the corner of the room. He the allegedly pulled out a pocket knife, and poked her in the stomach with the knife before holding the knife to her throat and punching her in the face.

The victim says that when Carrasco attempted to attach another family member, she intervened.

Police say that when Carrasco tried to leave the scene in a pickup truck a police vehicle attempted to motion him to stop. Carrasco fled the scene, nearly hitting the police officer.

Police later located Carrasco in the basement of his home on the 1600 block of West Street. Carrasco is also known as David Carrasco and Emmanuel Santos.

Carrasco was arrested and charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, aggravated unlicensed operation, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

According to Utica Police, Immigration (ICE) also placed a hold on Carrasco due to him being a fugitive from justice (deported felon).
