ALBANY -- A former coach for a northern New York school district has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for attempting to entice an underage girl into having sex with him.

WWNY-TV in Watertown reports that 41-year-old Christopher Morin of Massena apologized to the parents of the 15-year-old victim at his sentencing Monday afternoon in U.S. District Court in Albany.

After a three-day trial in federal court in Binghamton last June, Morin was convicted of sexual enticement of a minor

Prosecutors say Morin contacted the girl through Facebook and tried to arrange a meeting with her to have sex.

He was arrested in August 2010 on the Saint Regis Mohawk Reservation gas station where he thought he was meeting the girl but instead was taken into custody by authorities following an undercover investigation by Homeland Securities Investigations.

The undercover investigation began when federal agents obtained consent to assume control of a fifteen-year-old girl's phone and Facebook account. During a period of three days, Morin exchanged more than 1,000 text messages with an undercover agent posing as the fifteen-year-old girl
