PARIS, ONEIDA CO. -- Seven people were sent to the hospital this morning after the van they were riding in flipped over on the slick, snow-covered road in the Town of Paris.

It happened around 5:26 a.m. on State Route 8. Oneida County Sheriff's deputies say 33-year-old Doh Eh, of Utica, was driving a 2002 GMC passenger van when he lost control due to the road conditions and excessive speed. The van skidded across the northbound lane and onto the east shoulder where it slammed into a street sign, flying down and embankment and flipping over into a farm field.

19-year-old Deania Lay suffered chest pain and had trouble breathing. 43-year-old Po Keh complained of neck pain, and 51-year-old Then Tun suffered a head injury. They were all taken to St. Luke's Hospital.

24-year-old Thee Ha complained of neck pain. 33-year-old Klam Ah suffered neck and back pain. 18-year-old Eh Chaw sustained a facial laceration and complained of neck pain, and 21-year-old A Lit suffered chest pain and had trouble breathing. They were all taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital.

The driver was ticketed for operating a vehicle at a speed not reasonable for road conditions, failing to keep right, operating an un-registered motor vehicle, operating with switched license plates and operating without liability insurance. He's scheduled to appear in Paris Town Court next month to answer the charges against him.
