A Waterloo man is accused of scheming to defraud two elderly people.

38-year-old Brian MacGill is facing multiple felonies. State police say in mid July and mid August, MacGill solicited an 82-year-old Phelps man and an 89-year-old Geneva woman for home improvement repairs. They say he negotiated a contract and was able to obtain a down payment of half the agreed price. Police say MacGill never completed any work and refused to return the down payments.

Police say his false promise of work defrauded the Phelps man out of $1,900 and the Geneva woman of $1,367.50.

MacGill was arraigned on charges of scheme to defraud and grand larceny. He was sent to the Ontario County Jail without bail due to prior felony convictions.
