Priscilla Mahar Animal Welfare Foundation donated $8,000 to CNY animal organizations

SYRACUSE -- The Priscilla Mahar Animal Welfare Foundation announced that nearly $8000 was handed out to animal rescue organizations on Thursday.

CNY Central’s Chief Meteorologist Wayne Mahar is President of the foundation which was named after his mom who passed away in 2007 at 85 years old. Priscilla Mahar was always an animal lover. 

The money was distributed among eight animal rescue organizations across central New York. Money raised was from this year’s Canine Carnival, sponsored by Wegman’s and CNYcentral, which was held at the Wegman’s Good Dog Park in Liverpool.

Planning is already under way for next years Canine Carnival which will be held on Saturday August 4, 2011 at Longbranch Park in Liverpool.

The next event will be Paws for Pucks at the Syracuse Crunch Hockey game on Friday March 23 at the Onondaga County War Memorial. This is a one of a kind event where fans bring their dogs to the game. Several vendors of animal related items for sale will also be set up along with a PMAWF information booth.
