Sandy Creek man accused of attacking woman on Christmas

NEW HAVEN, OSWEGO CO. -- An Oswego County man is under arrest after police say he attacked a woman in her home on Christmas Day.

According to the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday night around 9:45 deputies arrested Michael T. Reitz of Salisbury Street in Sandy Creek on charges of felony burglary, assault, and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child charges. Police say Reitz was wearing a black ski mask when he entered a home in New Haven uninvited and threw a woman to the floor. He then allegedly threatened her and slashed her face and hand multiple times while children were in the room.

Police say the victim knew the attacker and was able to identify him by the sound of his voice.

Reitz was arraigned in Scriba Town Court and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional on $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to New Haven Town Court on January 5 to answer the charges.
