SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police have made an arrest after a stabbing and shooting incident left a man dead over the Christmas weekend.
According to police spokesman Sgt. Tom Connellan, officers have arrested 20-year-old Nikeem Brown on a charge of first degree manslaughter in connection with the death of 19-year-old Sherman Jackson. Police say Jackson was stabbed to death in the same Christmas Eve incident that sent Brown and 26-year-old Christopher Mike to Upstate University Hospital with severe gunshot wounds. The incident took place just after midnight on Saturday on the 200 block of South Alvord Street, near Seward Street in Syracuse.
Brown and Mike were admitted to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery. They are currently listed in serious condition. Connellan says Brown was arraigned in his hospital room Tuesday morning on the manslaughter charge.
Police say they are still working on exactly who was responsible for shooting Brown and Mike, and their investigation into the case remains open. They could not say if Jackson was the shooter.
