OSWEGO (AP) -- Lake-effect snow warnings have been issued for most of central and western New York, where more than a foot of snow has already fallen in some areas amid a wintry blast of high winds and plunging temperatures.

The National Weather Service has posted the warnings Tuesday morning for most counties from the Utica area westward to southwestern New York, where 15 inches of snow fell Monday in Cattaraugus County and 12 inches was reported in neighboring Chautauqua County.

Up to 8 inches was reported in Oswego County, on Lake Ontario in Central New York. Four school districts have reported closings or delays this morning.

Forecasters say some areas could get another 2 to 4 inches Tuesday.

Temperatures will dip Tuesday night in eastern New York as winds increase, pushing the wind chill to as low as 30 below zero in some northern areas.
