ALBANY (AP) -- A pot-bellied actor in a blue bodysuit and white Speedo stars as an anti-hydrofracking superhero in a television commercial released by environmental groups as New York concludes the public comment period on drilling regulations.
Rob Moore of Environmental Advocates says the ad depicting a New York Water Ranger is funny, but its message is serious. The spot stars actor Adam Lefevre, who has appeared in "Law & Order" numerous times as well as films including "Philadelphia." He's shown lumbering over a bridge, dipping a test tube in a lake, and sniffing as drilling rigs billow smoke on a ridge.
Moore says Tuesday the goal is to draw attention to fracking ahead of the Jan. 11 deadline for public comment on the Department of Environmental Conservation's proposed regulations.
