OGDENSBURG, ST. LAWRENCE CO. (AP) -- Authorities say a two-year-old has died after a piece of furniture fell on him at his family's northern New York home.

Police in the city of Ogdensburg tell local media outlets that they were called to the home late Wednesday night after receiving reports that a boy wasn't breathing.

The toddler was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police say a dresser in an upstairs bedroom fell on the boy. Officials aren't saying if anyone else was in the room at the time.

The boy lived at the home with his parents and six siblings ages 1 to 17. Police say all were home when the dresser fell.

The boy's name and results of an autopsy conducted Thursday haven't been released.

Police say their investigation is continuing.
