King Day clothing/food/school supplies drive

Monday may be a holiday, but it's not a day to be off, and the groups organizing this year's King community outreach are looking for both help and donations.

Gently used clothing, non-perishable food and school supplies are being collected to donate to the needy in the Syracuse area.   Helen Hudson, who's the Greater Syracuse Labor Council's liaison to the United Way, says over a hundred union members are already volunteering, and so are area high school and college students.

Teamsters #317, at 566 Spencer Street in Syracuse, is the dropoff point, Monday morning 8am to noon. Volunteers sort the items and then deliver them through the afternoon.  Hudson says the need is great in this community because of job losses, and this is a way for neighbors to give back.
