Volunteer recruitment is planned for February
The group's name is 'Cuse Pit Crew, and co-founder Stefanie Higgins says it plans to offer free training for Syracuse residents who own pits, and pit bull mixes, and to offer animal welfare services.
As she visited in our CNYCentral studios on Sunday morning, she brought 'Cato' with her, a brindled dog now in foster care, a bit thin but very friendly, and looking for a new home. Stefanie says he's typical of the breed--trusting and willing, which is why pit bulls become such targets for abuse.
'Cuse Pit Crew is recruiting volunteers, and has an information session on Saturday, February 4th, noon - 1pm at the DeWitt Library in Shoppingtown. To get in touch, for adoptions (like Cato!) or information, you can email cusepitcrew@gmail.com
