There's a huge phone-a-thon underway, aimed at raising a record amount of money--a million dollars is the goal--for the Syracuse Jewish Federation. Several hundred volunteers are staffing the phones at the Jewish Community Center in DeWitt, until 6 on Sundya evening.
In addition to the phone-athon, the Jewish Federation has gotten a grant to buy winter clothes (coats, hats, gloves) for the needy, and some of the items already purchased are on display, being shown to some of the volunteer phone answerers.
