84th annual Academy Award nominations announced

BEVERLY HILLS, CALIF. (AP) -- The 84th annual Academy Award nominations were announced in Beverly Hills, Calif., by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday morning.
The nominees for best picture are: “War Horse”; “The Artist”; “Moneyball”; “The Descendants”; “Tree of Life”; “Midnight in Paris”; “The Help”; “Hugo”; and “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close."
The nominees for lead actress in a motion picture are: Glenn Close, "Albert Nobbs"; Viola Davis, "The Help"; Rooney Mara, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"; Meryl Streep, "The Iron Lady"; Michelle Williams, "My Week with Marilyn."
The nominees for supporting actor in a motion picture are: Kenneth Branagh, "My Week with Marilyn"; Jonah Hill, "Moneyball"; Nick Nolte, "Warrior"; Christopher Plummer, "Beginners"; Max von Sydow, "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close."
The nominees for supporting actress in a motion picture are: Octavia Spencer, "The Help"; Berenice Bejo, "The Artist"; Jessica Chastain, "The Help"; Janet McTeer ("Albert Nobbs"); and Melissa McCarthy, "Bridesmaids."
The Oscars will be presented Feb. 26 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, hosted by Billy Crystal and broadcast live on ABC.
