OSSIAN, LIVINGSTON CO. -- A Western New York student was dragged about 900 feet when her backpack got caught in a school bus door.

State police say the bus driver was dropping students off in the Town of Ossian in Livingston County when he closed the door, not realizing 8-year-old Haley Heath's backpack was caught in the door.

The little girl suffered minor injuries and was taken home by her mother. She was later taken to Noyes Hospital for treatment.

Another student, 8-year-old Michael Thomas, was standing up when the driver stopped the bus after hearing students yelling to stop. The boy was treated for an eye injury when he hit the seat in front of him.

The Dansville School District was notified and responded to the scene. No charges were filed against the bus driver.
