BRIDGEWATER -- An Oneida County man is under arrest after police say he brought a loaded gun into a bar.
According to Oneida County sheriff’s deputies, on Thursday night 21-year-old Dustin Orcutt of West Winfield had been involved in a fight at Patty’s Pub in the Village of Bridgewater when he went to his home on Route 20 and retrieved a shotgun. Orcutt reportedly returned to the pub and entered through the back door, where he headed to the kitchen to find the other person involved in the dispute. Bar patrons were able to stop Orcutt moments before police arrived on the scene, and he subsequently fled into a nearby woods.
Deputies say they found the gun near a stream behind the bar and started searching for Orcutt there, with the help of State Troopers from Herkimer and Marcy. After about two hours they were able to contact Orcutt on his cell phone. He eventually surrendered and was arrested without further incident.
Orcutt is charged with third degree menacing and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Bridgewater Town Court on $10,000 bail.
