SYRACUSE -- The Greater Syracuse Tenants Network held a free energy savings workshop for property owners on Tuesday morning at Park Central Presbyterian Church in Syracuse.

The workshop addressed free and low cost programs available to property owners who may not realize they are eligible for energy efficiency incentives.

“Many landlords may not realize that they are eligible for incentives to upgrade the energy efficiency of their property even if the tenants pay the utility bill,” said Sharon Sherman, Executive Director of The Greater Syracuse Tenants Network.

Landlords who rent to lower income tenants may be eligible for more assistance.  Applications for the programs were available at the workshop.

Speakers from NYSERDA, a public benefit corporation, and EmPower Program, an energy use data system, presented at the workshop.

The Greater Syracuse Tenants Network says it’s a not-for-profit organization that was established to inform and empower primarily low income tenants to improve the quality of life in their communities and preserve affordable rental housing.
