SYLVAN BEACH -- For the third time in just two weeks, emergency crews had to rescue someone from the ice.
More than 40 fishermen were out on the ice of Oneida Lake in Sylvan Beach Wednesday morning when they noticed the ice below them starting to float away. Most of them got back to shore themselves by wading through waist deep water over a gap of 40 feet.
One person got stranded on the ice. The Sylvan Beach Fire Department had to use an airboat to get the person back to shore.
Just last week, a bystander helped rescue a family stranded on the ice in Bridgeport. The next day, a trooper fell into the cold water trying to save a man in Cicero.
