Aaron Sorkin named as 2012 commencement speaker at Syracuse University

SYRACUSE -- Oscar winning writer, producer and actor Aaron Sorkin will serve as the commencement speaker at this year's graduation ceremony at Syracuse University.

Sorkin graduated from SU in 1983 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater and originally intended to pursue a career in acting. He quickly discovered his love of writing and went on to write movies like "The Social Network," "Moneyball," "A Few Good Men" and "Charlie Wilson's War." He is also known for his work on "The West Wing."

The 2012 commencement ceremony will be held Sunday, May 13 at 9:30 a.m. in the Carrier Dome.
