ROME, ONEIDA CO. -- A Rome man is accused of trying to abduct a woman from a Wal-Mart store.
24-year-old Giovanni Beltran, a resident at the Rome Mission, is charged with unlawful imprisonment, a misdemeanor.
State police say he tried to abduct a woman on March 9 from the Wal-Mart at 5815 Rome-Taberg Road. Police say he grabbed a 26-year-old woman while she was shopping at the store and held her to the ground. He was pulled off by the victim's brother and later arrested. The woman was not hurt.
Beltran was arraigned in the Town of Lee Court and sent to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $500 bail or $1,000 bond.
