More cancer patients are giving holistic treatments at try. In fact, six out of every ten cancer patients are turning to alternative remedies. And every day, more people who simply want to feel better are trying them too. So it's little surprise that wellness centers are popping up in communities all over the country.
Determined to turn her health around, Debbie Spangler first tried typical medical methods. "I was miserable. I never felt good. I didn't have any energy. I didn't want to get up," she said. "They didn't have any idea what was wrong they just kept pushing medicine and medicine my immune system started to break down cause I was having reactions to all the medicines they were giving me."
So Debbie joined the growing legions of Americans who are turning to natural, homeopathic remedies. With nothing to lose, Spangler decided to give holistic health a try. The first step was finding the root of her problem. "This isn't about alternative healthcare. This is supporting your body with what it needs on a day to day basis," said Rachel Anzalone of Naturopath.
Spangler started with a five day reset cleanse using shakes, bars and supplements to help flush toxins out of her body. Then she got some help cleaning up her diet. "Eating healthily, paying attention to what I put in my body and what it does to my body. I feel a thousand times better," Spangler said. "We're not addressing specific health issues. It's about creating overall health within the body," said Anzalone.
Another method is the detox foot bath. Supposedly, it leeches toxins out through your feet. Some also turn to the Biomat as a way to balance your mind and body with negative ions and quiet time.
Over the past ten years, consumers spent more than $10 billion dollars on complementary and alternative medicine research.
