SALINA -- An Onondaga County Assistant District Attorney is on administrative leave.

Daniel Barry, 35, of Solvay, is facing several charges, including driving under the influence of drugs.

Barry was in a car accident Monday afternoon on Route 81 Northbound. Sheriff's deputies say Barry lost control of his car on the on-ramp to the Thruway at Exit 25A in Salina. He hit the guardrail, but was the only person involved in the crash.

Deputies say Barry was on prescription medication at the time of the crash. He told investigators he is taking pain medication for a recent back surgery.

In addition to the driving under the influence charge, Barry is also charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and imprudent speed. He is do back in Salina Town Court on April 19th.

The District Attorney's Office will ask for a special prosecutor to handle the case.
