AUBURN -- Authorities have charged a central New York woman with trying to smother a 2-year-old girl, and possibly her 3-year-old sister, after getting into an argument with the child's father.

Police in Auburn say 31-year-old Nicole Fallat and the girl's father were involved in a domestic dispute late Saturday night. When officers arrived, they were told Fallat used a pillow in an attempt to smother the toddler and possibly the girl's 3-year-old sister.

Investigators were called to 52 Nelson Street about 8:15 Friday night, and found a two year old, her three year old sister, their biological father, and the suspect.

Fallat was charged with attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies. She was being held at the Auburn Police Department pending arraignment.

The children were taken to Auburn Community Hospital where they were treated and released.

Auburn Police say more charges may be pending against Fallat, and they ask anyone with more information to get back at 258-9880.

It couldn't be determined if Fallat had a lawyer.
