Verona man arrested on felony sex charges after portraying himself as a teen on Facebook

MARCY -- A Verona man is behind bars after engaging in a sexual act with a minor and recording the encounter.

State Police arrested 32-year-old Brent Reader on sex charges after he allegedly met a child under the age of 17 on Facebook.

Police say Reader was portraying himself as a teenager.

Reader allegedly met the child in Rome and engaged in sexual acts, which he digitally recorded.

Police charged Reader with the use of a child in a sexual performance, a felony, third degree criminal sexual act, a felony, and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor.

The arrest was the result of a month long investigation. Reader was arraigned in the City of Rome and remanded to the Oneida County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
