Suspect bailed from car, was caught after foot chase
A man wanted in Onondaga County for fraud and grand larceny is now in Oswego County's jail with no bail, after a chase by State Police.
Troopers tried to stop a car on County Route 12 in Schroeppel late Friday night for a suspended registration, but they say 37 year old Christopher Vanetten, from Chestnut Ridge Road in Kirkville, did not stop. Troopers followed the car into the Village of Phoenix, and say the suspect bailed from the vehicle on Barnes Street. He was arrested after a foot chase. A woman in the car, 39 year old Christina Pontello from Lake Shore Road in Cicero, drove the car away, but was later stopped in Baldwinsville.
In addition to the Onondaga County charges, Vanetten now faces unlawful fleeing and several traffic charges from Oswego County. Pontello faces obstruction charges.
