MARATHON -- A Marathon teacher who has been under investigation since April 5 was allowed to return to work Wednesday.

The superintendent of Marathon Central School District, Rebecca Stone, said in an email release that after a student provided information to her about a teacher, she was required to alert the State Education Department and contact the local police.

Stone says that the teacher, who had been asked to stay home during the four weeks of investigations, was permitted to return to school on Wednesday.

The release did not specify what the allegations were, but we’ve received numerous complaints from parents in the school district who were concerned with an inappropriate relationship. They expressed concern over the teacher’s return.

There was a small protest outside of the school regarding this issue Wednesday morning.
