LOWVILLE, LEWIS COUNTY -- A Lowville man was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl over the weekend.

State Police in Lowville say they arrested 21-year-old Timothy Bates for sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say an investigation revealed that Bates had sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl in New Bremen over the weekend.

Bates was arraigned in the Town of Croghan Court, and was remanded to the Lewis County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 secured bond.
