SKANEATELES -- Investigators have identified the man killed in a head-on crash Friday afternoon in Skaneateles.

It happened just before 2 p.m. in front of the Hilltop Restaurant along the 800 block of Route 20, which is also considered West Genesee Street.

A pick up truck driven by Adam Heck, 22, of Clay, was driving east on Route 20 when it began swerving all over the road, according to the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department. Witnesses say the driver was hunched over the wheel while he was swerving.

Heck crossed the center line and struck a Culligan Water Company truck driven by Eric Maret, 24, of Liverpool, according to investigators.

Heck was pronounced dead at the scene. Maret was not hurt, but was evaluated at the scene. Heck may have suffered from a medical condition that caused the accident, according to deputies. 

The area of the crash was closed for several hours while emergency crews were on the scene.
