BREWERTON -- A man is dead after he was hit by a car while trying to cross Interstate 81 North near the Bartel Road exit in Brewerton, according to State Police.

The accident happened Thursday shortly after 9:30 p.m.

Troopers say Michael Moore, of Pennellville, was walking west across the northbound lanes when he was hit by a pickup truck.

The driver of another vehicle told police that she also may have struck Moore while he was on the ground.

State Police were on the scene late into the night investigating the incident.

Troopers say neither driver will face charges.
